About Me

Hello Everyone!

My name is Carly Oguschewitz and I am from a small town in the center of Connecticut. I moved to Rhode Island in 2013 to attend the University of Rhode Island where I completed my undergraduate in Elementary Education and Biology in 2017. Currently, I am attending Rhode Island College to pursue a graduate degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. Since graduating with my undergraduate degree, I have worked as a teaching partner in Woonsocket, a middle school science teacher, and this year I will be a third grade teacher at the Segue Institute for Learning in Central Falls, RI! This will be my third year at Segue and I cannot wait to see what the year holds!

This summer has consisted of a lot of relaxing and unwinding after a crazy spring semester. In my free time, I love to read and summer vacation really gives me the time to do this! In addition to reading, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. It has been challenging to see family during the pandemic but gradually we are getting together outside and socially distancing. I have two cats, Kerry and Chuck, as well as a hairless guinea pig, Wally. Wally is my classroom pet and teaches my students about all types of things ranging from kindness to genetics.

I am always excited for new opportunities to learn about education and become a better teacher.

  2. Hi Carly! I just had to click the link to see what a hairless guinea pig looked. They are actually really cute! I love the idea of a classroom pet. That is so cool that you have one for teaching both content and kindness.

  3. Carly, Love the guinea pig! It is such a wonder teaching and special class mate! I have can a class room pet too...a bobcat beanie baby like toy named Bobby. My 6th graders really wanted a class pet and that's the best I could for now. They love hiding him all over the place in the room. You probably should not do the with wally. :)
